Jens ROMMEL, federaal procureur van Duitsland, Ann FRANSEN, federaal procureur van het Koninkrijk België, John LUCAS, hoofdofficier van justitie van het Landelijk Parket van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en Olivier CHRISTEN, antiterrorismeprocureur van de Republiek in Frankrijk, hoofden van de vier parketten die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de strijd tegen terrorisme en de bestrijding van internationale misdrijven in hun landen, zijn op 7 en 8 oktober 2025 bijeengekomen bij het gerechtshof van Parijs in het kader van een nieuw multilateraal overlegorgaan, de zogenaamde "North Sea Group".
Tijdens dit eerste seminarie, gefinancierd door AGRASC, het Franse agentschap voor de inbeslagname en ontneming van criminele activa, is gesproken over de thema's die de leden breed delen: de steeds jonger wordende verdachten in terrorismezaken, de toename van terrorismeonderzoeken in een extreemrechtse context, de vervolging van jihadisten zowel voor terroristische als internationale misdrijven en strafrechtelijke onderzoeken met betrekking tot de situatie in het Midden-Oosten. Deze groep komt jaarlijks bijeen, met medewerking van verbindingsmagistraten uit de betrokken landen, en zal de informatie-uitwisseling en justitiële samenwerking op het gebied van terrorisme en internationale misdrijven versterken.

Jens ROMMEL, Federal Prosecutor of Germany, Ann FRANSEN, Federal Prosecutor of the Kingdom of Belgium, John LUCAS, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Olivier CHRISTEN, Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor of the Republic of France, heads of the four Public Prosecutor’s Offices responsible for the fight against terrorism and international crimes in their countries, met on 7 and 8 October 2025 at the Court of Appeal of Paris within the framework of a new multilateral consultative body, known as the ‘North Sea Group’.
During this first seminar, funded by AGRASC, the French agency for the seizure and confiscation of criminal assets, the topics discussed were widely shared by the members: the increasingly younger suspects in terrorism cases, the increase of terrorism investigations in an extreme right-wing context, the prosecution of jihadists for both terrorist and international crimes, as well as criminal investigations relating to the situation in the Middle East. This group meets annually, with the participation of liaison magistrates from the countries concerned, and will strengthen information exchange and judicial cooperation in terrorism and international crime.
